Strengthening Capacity and Collaboration
The Lake County Community Foundation held its inaugural conference for nonprofit organizations serving Lake County on June 1 at Hewitt Associates. The theme of the conference was Strengthening Collaboration and Capacity and featured topics such as measuring success, strategic planning, board development, fundraising, and raising capital. The luncheon keynote address was delivered by Illinois State Senator Susan Garrett.

The Lake County Community Foundation offered a series of capacity building workshops for Lake County nonprofits in April, June and September 2006. Featured workshops included “Getting on the Air and into Print: essentials for developing a communications plan and working with the media” presented by Thom Clark, Community Media Workshop; “The Landscape of Philanthropy and Fundamentals of Fundraising” presented by Merri Ex, The Chicago Community Trust; and “Good Governance” presented by Debbie Hinde, Vital Bridges.
