What is The Lake County Community Foundation?
The Lake County Community Foundation was established to meet the charitable needs of the fast-growing communities of Lake County, Illinois. Our county is diverse, comprising rural areas, urban centers and well-known tourist attractions, a multi-ethnic population, and households with widely varying economic resources. In recent years we have witnessed an explosive population growth--including a large influx of immigrants--and an increased demand for human services. These evolving challenges, and a desire to better support community members who want to give something back, prompted local business and civic leaders in 2003 to partner with The Chicago Community Trust to establish a foundation that would serve the unique needs of Lake County.
Concerned Lake County residents can come to the Foundation for assistance in identifying and sharpening their philanthropic priorities and giving options. Using the Lake County-specific expertise of the Foundation and vast resources of the Trust, donors can target specific areas of need including education, the arts, economic development, health, and the environment, and award grants to the not-for-profit agencies best addressing those needs.
Through partnerships with charitable donors, professional advisors, not-for-profit organizations and The Chicago Community Trust, the Foundation is helping to build a better future for Lake County. We invite you to partner with us.
